GSB Seva Ganesh Mandal starts its own online Seva Booking service
India is a nation of festivals and Ganesh Chaturthi is probably one of the most popular ones, especially in Mumbai. A staggering 11,400 public Ganesh pandals are adorning the streets of Mumbai this year! And one among them is also Mumbai’s Gold Ganesha, adorned with more than 60kgs of pure gold! The popular Wadala GSB Seva Ganesh Mandal is probably the richest Ganesh Mandal in Mumbai.
And in this age of the internet, we’ve seen that religion also comes online. We’ve seen the success of startups like Online Prasad and the recent Divine India. G.S.B Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Samati was founded by the Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Community from Karnataka in 1954 in Mumbai, and now they have come online.
They have started their own Online Seva Booking service (powered by Zepo) and the site offers Daily Sevas as well as Shashwat Sevas that is, for 20 years straight. The services currently being offered on their online website include Daily Sevas like individual Ganamoha at Rs 600 and the Anna Danna Seva at Rs 1 lakh (talk about ticket sizes).
Also, while booking a Seva of their choice, devotees can choose the pooja date according to their liking as well as the number of tickets they’ll like to book. The Trust soon plans to add other categories to sell audio and video CDs, Mandal’s publications and a lot more.
Well, this might lead one to think that religion is a great business to be in and an area where startups can come in and help organise the chaotic, non-existent processes during festivals and such. Any ideas?
