Dolphin will engage with Indian developers in 2014
The new year hasn't yet arrived but good news have started coming in. Edith Yeung, Vice President, International Business Development for Dolphin Browser, a Sequioa-backed mobile browser with over 80 million downloads on Android and iOS, told YourStory that India, and also Asia, will be one of their focus areas in 2014 and they would be engaging with the developers here.
Dolphin is the only Gesture and Voice enabled browser today and is hugely popular, as is evident from the number of times it has been downloaded in less than two years. Facebook had recently announced Dolphin as the first mobile browser to reach Facebook's Ringmark (HTML5 Test suite) final ring. This represents a big milestone for mobile and proves there is a future for HTML5. Dolphin was also recently named #1 Best Free iPhone and iPad Apps by PC Magazine.
They made news a few weeks back when they released Dolphin Zero, which lets users browse the web on their mobile devices, then clear their digital footprints at the click of a button.
YourStory quizzed the company's VP Edith Yeung on their future plans and more.

What is Dolphin's global strategy?
Dolphin's overarching global strategy is focused on customization, and more importantly -- culturalization.
Our strategy of culturalization by actually listening to our customers' thoughts and feedback has always been a point of pride for Dolphin. We've crossed 80 million users worldwide, but we will never stop innovating and striving to customize our browsers to the needs of our users. The mobile browser space is constantly changing, along with the needs of our users, and we're excited to never stop innovating to make Dolphin Browser the best mobile browsing experience in the world!
What about India and Asia strategy?
We have worked extensively in Asia to make this a reality, and have recently partnered with top search engines like Baidu in China and Yahoo! Japan to further customize our browser.
Dolphin is designed to better serve users in “mobile-first” countries like India, who do a lot of their browsing from a mobile phone, by bringing content directly to users, acting as an entertainment hub and portal for news, music and games.
As you know, we recently launched a customized version of our browser in India, and are very excited. We're thrilled to continue to innovate and tailor Dolphin to fit the needs of our users in India.
Has there been any on ground developer engagement in these regions?
Not yet. But definitely one of the focus for 2014.
