With about 16.4 million tweets during the match, the Brazil vs Chile match set the record for the most tweeted real-time event ever. Twitter data revealed that the moment Chilean defender Gonzalo Jara missed the crucial penalty opportunity, it triggered about 389,000 tweets per minute.
This record is not expected to stand for long with more matches coming up in the tournament, and the all important World Cup final which is sure to raise the bar even higher.
Twitter also revealed that Messi kept the top spot as the most tweeted-about football player, followed by Brazil's Neymar Jr.
4G to take at least two more years to reach Indian shores
Though Airtel has launched a 4G service in Kolkata and Reliance Telecom is planning to launch 4G in 2015, it will take almost two more years for a majority of Indian consumers to get access to 4G at an affordable price. This is because there are very few users who feel the need for high fast download speeds that 4G offers and also 4G will have a low early adoption rate because of its high prices. Only when 4G is availalble at current 3G rates, will majority of Indian users be able and willing to use it.
ISRO's PSLV C-23 successfully launched with 5 satellites
India successfully launched five foreign satellites from four countries on board ISRO's workhorse Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C23 rocket and then placed them into their intended orbits , one after the other between 17 and 19 minutes after liftoff, in textbook precision.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present at Sriharikota, on this special occasion. In his first visit to this spaceport, Modi asked the space community to develop a SAARC satellite. He also praised Indian space scientists for their efforts, gave an uplifting speech about India's prowess in cheap space technology.
The launch of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) is a big achievement and furthers India's goal of capturing more of the $304 billion annual global space market.
Smartphone maker Xiaomi in talks with Flipkart
Following the success of Motorolla, Chinese handset maker Xiaomi also appears to be teaming up with e-Commerce giant Flipkart to launch its handsets in India. Xiaomi had launched its official website in India earlier this month. It will be announcing its entry into the fiercely competitive Indian smartphone market in the next few weeks by launching 2 smartphones.
Samsung unveils four new low-end smartphones
The company unveiled four new low-end smartphones the Galaxy Core II, Galaxy Ace4, Galaxy Young 2 and Galaxy Star 2.
Galaxy Core II features a 4.5-inch WVGA display, quad-core 1.2GHz processor and runs on a 2,000mAh battery.
Galaxy Ace 4 offers a smaller 4-inch panel, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1,800 mAh battery and LTE connectivity.A 3G variant is also available with a 1GHz processor and 1,500 mAh battery.
The Galaxy Young 2 is the last one on the list. It comes with a 3.5-inch HGVA display, single-core 1.0GHz processor and 1,300 mAh battery.
Galaxy Star 2, which is similar to the Galxy Young 2 except for a lower-resolution 2-megapixel camera.
As a result Samsung now has phones in almost all three : low end , mid and high end segments.
