Union Minister announces launch of an eCommerce portal for MSMEs
National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (NSIC) is a government body established in 1955 and works with a mission of promoting, aiding and fostering the growth of small scale industries and industry related small scale services/business enterprises in the country. Yesterday, Union Minister Kalraj Mishra announced the launch of an eCommerce shopping portal of National Small Industries Corporation, on which MSMEs will be able to sell retail products as well as industrial equipment online.
"This portal is exclusively dedicated to Indian MSMEs. Our cost is low that is why people will prefer buying from us. We need to spread awareness about this portal," says Mishra (source). The portal is dedicated to Indian micro, small and medium businesses and the portal will serve as a good marketing platform for them. The B2C platform- msmeshopping.com - also has some good benefits for the sellers:
- The registration fee is INR 5,000 for one year, irrespective of the number or value of products sold. There are no charge transaction charges as well.
- Plans to launch country-wide publicity campaigns.
- There is also going to be a campaign for suppliers' interaction with MSME Associations. NSIC has started with 110 suppliers and about 1,000 products. Over a period of one year, the plan is to add at least 3,000 to 5,000 suppliers.
- Major features of the portal include- online registration, web store management, popular products section, multi-product cart, online buying and selling, customer support through call center, payment gateway for membership subscription, enhanced security features, etc.
