While casual dating apps provide an easy-to-use interface, not everyone is comfortable using such services because of privacy concerns. Those looking for serious relationships or looking to tie the knot, may find matrimonial websites too complex. So Matchify aims to provide a middle ground of sorts with their app.Matchify is a mobile app that aims to help ‘like-minded’ people look for serious and meaningful relationships. Matrimony.com Limited invested an undisclosed amount in acquiring the 100% subsidiary, Matchify Services Private Limited.

Signing up

Similar to other dating apps users are shown profiles and have the option of ‘liking’ or ‘ignoring’ them based on their preferences. But the sign up process is more detailed and requires users to login using their Facebook accounts for authenticity; users can also select criteria of their desired matches such as age, height, religion and interests.

Features

“With a blend of technology and human matching skills, Matchify’s relationship matching algorithm constantly updates itself based on the understanding of ‘interests’ dynamically, as users begin to identify and engage in relationships,” claims Matchify.

The app aims to give full control to the new-age Indian women looking for meaningful relationships as it comes with women-friendly features such as verified profiles, secure chat where women can initiat conversations with men directly (unlike men who can do it only when there’s a mutual like), control over who can see profile and pictures, and abuse report/ block. Users can also hide their profile from their Facebook.Saichithra, Business Head, Matchify.in said:

We are aware of the growing need of young Indians for meaningful relationships matching their interests and near their current location. Matchify is a robust and secure platform for like-minded people and it’s on mobile. That’s what makes it interesting.

Business model

The app is free to download and use and the developers are currently seeding the product and have no plans in monetising the app in the near future. Their current goal is to create a large user base and help consumers, especially women become more comfortable with the idea of online dating and matchmaking.

Others in this sector

Aisle.co, Trulymadly.com, Thrill, OkCupid, Woo, QuackQuack.in, iCrushiFlush, Vee and Tinder can be considered to be in the same sector in general. But Matchify aims to target users who are more inclined towards serious relationships or marriage rather than casual dating and hence the added parameters.

Future plans

Matchify is working on features to enable one way video chats for women and is working on growing their user base through marketing and word of mouth. The app is currently available on the Google Play Store and will soon be available on other platforms as well.
