Livspace’s second acquisition in two months, Dwll.in now part of the team

Tuesday May 19, 2015 , 3 min Read

In lieu with their plans of being a complete end-to-end home design and decor platform, Livspace acquired Dwll.in, a curated online network of interior designers. This is Livspace’s second acquisition in two months. With this acquisition, Livspace plans to create India’s only and biggest catalogue of designer looks for homeowners and the largest curated community marketplace of home designers.

After the recent acquisition of DezignUp by Livspace, Anuj Srivastava the Co-founder of Livspace, had told YourStory, “In DezignUp, we saw a similar blend of scale, intellectual pedigree, and energy. Saurabh, Arpit, and Swati are as good as they come. Young, energetic and their can-do, will-do spirit was inspiring. We made a very quick decision and are glad to have them join the Livspace family.”

The Livspace team believes that this acquisition is in line with their aspiration of being the ‘personal home designer for homeowners.’ Speaking of the acquisition, Anuj says that being an end-to-end design and home decor platform, one of the innovations they brought to the segment was bringing in different kinds of images and designs of decor online. He further adds that to ensure leadership in this space, they need platforms like Dwll.in and DezignUp to continuously innovate and expand the library of looks and the end-to-end home design service.

Currently, the team is focussed on strengthening their position in the market and making sure that they innovate more in the space. According to Anuj, the home decor and design space in India, and the overall market size is close to USD 30 billion dollars. He further adds that half of this market space is the new home segment, which is focussed on home design and decor.

He further said that as they continue to expand geographically, across cities, it will be very essential to have a set of curated online network of interior designers. He also said that they not only will help understand the market space, but also understand the diversity of the home design and decor space and its customers.

Anuj says: “We looked at different players in the space and what really stood out for us was DezignUp, which we acquired in March and now Dwll.in.” Speaking of Dwll.in, Anuj adds that Parikshat and Pankaj are early movers in the space, and have created a great network of interior designers. Anuj also believes that they have a great understanding of the home decor and design space in India.

He further adds: “When we were looking to expand the business we picked the best partners in the space.” Anuj believes that the team at Dwll.in will bring in deep insights into the workings of the home design industry in India. The entire team of Dwll.in will now be a part of Livspace, jointly they plan to bring in a better and integrated experience of home decor to the end consumer.

Anuj says that both Pankaj and Parikshat are solid entrepreneurs and will be helping Livspace in two main areas; one will be in the expansion of the organisation across India, and also in creating a differentiation across different looks and design options.
