According to PTI, a skill education scheme has been launched for providing education and training in computer, self-defense and traditional arts to girl students.

Under this scheme, ten Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas have been established in backward education blocks in the state and an MoU had been signed with Himachal Pradesh Police and NGOs under self defense training programmes for the girls and 9,6075 girls have been trained so far, an official spokesman said in Shimla. ‘Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan’ is being effectively implemented in the state, he added.

All students enrolled in the government schools have been covered under ‘Baseline and Terminal Assessment Survey’ so that study level assessment could be made to identify the shortcomings, the spokesman said.

Sustained comprehensive evaluation system has been introduced which has significantly improved the quality of education, he said.

As many as 4,942 children deprived of education were again enrolled in the schools after organising counseling and motivational camps under ‘Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan’ and Rs 1.2 crore were spent on these camps, he said.

A web portal has been created which enables the teachers to upload the problems encountered by them during teaching and these uploaded queries are resolved by the subject specialists, he added.
