UHHDC is a state government agency set up to promote items manufactured by local artisans, handloom weavers and small entrepreneurs engaged in the sector. The council has emporiums in Chamoli, Pauri, Almora, Haridwar and Dehradun for handloom and handicraft products of the state. Around 100 popular handloom and handicraft products unique to Uttarakhand under the brand name Himadri have been cleared for sale through Snapdeal in the first phase, out of which 64 are currently available online, Durgapal told reporters soon after the agreement was finalised.

The remaining handloom and handicraft products of the state will also be made available online soon, he said adding it will be a major boost in terms of marketing for small entrepreneurs and their products. Snapdeal senior vice president Vishal Chaddha expressed hope that small entrepreneurs will benefit immensely from the arrangement.
