Platform for doctors and hospitals Medinfi secures Rs 2 cr seed fund from multiple angels

Medinfi, a platform for doctors and hospitals, has raised Rs 2 crore angel round led by Ram Kumar Kakani (Professor, XLRI), Pradeep K Jaisingh (Chairman, Healthstart), Sunil T V (Co-founder, IVFA), Vijay Ghadge (COO, Gojavas), Hemant Kaul (ex-CEO & MD, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance), and Gurmeet Chahal (SVP & Head-Healthcare, HCL Technologies), among other investors.

Medinfi intends to use the funds for launching an iOS app, as well as expansion to 10 Indian cities in the coming two-three months.

According to Ravi Shankar Mishra, Founder, Medinfi,

We have always thrived to offer genuine and trustworthy information to our users. With this funding, we would be able to further strengthen our content operations in multiple cities while also scaling our user base to both Android as well as iOS users in these cities.

Founded by Ravi Shankar Mishra in 2014, Medinfi operates in Bengaluru, Delhi (NCR), and Mumbai with information on 5000 plus verified doctors, hospitals, and clinics. It lets users review the images, years of experience, and other detailed information for over 3000 clinics and doctors.

This will help users in reviewing the doctors & clinics before choosing the right ones for their needs.

Medinfi has multiple audit mechanisms in place to show only verified and genuine information to its users. While the users can call the doctors and hospitals from the mobile application, Medinfi does not have any revenue tie-ups with either doctors or hospitals and thereby does not book appointments.

YourStory’s take

Healthcare and education are sectors which have not witnessed disruption as product based and service (cab, hyperlocal etc.) based e-commerce formats, however, things have improved significantly in healthcare. Owing to busy schedules and hassles attached with offline appointment booking, users in urban areas tend to use platforms like Practo, Lybrate, and Medinfi amongst several others.

Over the past one year, several startups have taken the plunge into doctor-appointment seeking space and several of them have raised seed rounds. Lybrate, DoctorC, doctree, HelpingDoctor, and DocSuggest amongst others had amassed over $4 million in seed funding.

Medinfi follows content approach and essentially doesn’t involve an appointment booking process. And this seems to be a strong differentiator of the company. With this round, Medinfi will be able to expand its footprint to various cities. Online healthcare is going through exciting times and it would be interesting to see how it evolves in the coming months.
