Stop being the hero if you want your startup to succeed
Every entrepreneur has performed heroic acts when his company was still getting off the ground. From redesigning a product from scratch to closing big deals singlehandedly, entrepreneurs enter hero mode when they’re strapped for money and time. However, there comes a point when an entrepreneur needs to stop their heroics and expand their team. If you're the founder, and you're the quickest and most efficient contributor to all tasks of your company, you're already knee-deep in trouble. If you want your business to reach new heights, you need to hire and delegate important tasks. Here's how you can stop being the hero if you want your startup to succeed.

Learn how to deal with things that need your immediate attention
As a founder, you'll always have a certain set of tasks that require your immediate attention. Just as customer service personnel create FAQ pages and standard responses to reply to frequently asked customer queries, founders should also find ways to make the most sought after reports and other material readily available. This can be done by keeping track of tasks that continue to crop up over and over again.
Start delegating
For every entrepreneur, their business is their baby, and therefore, when it's time to delegate important tasks and projects to their team, they are hesitant to do so. One way to rest assured after you've delegated is by having a team of extremely talented and capable individuals working for you. A well-trusted team is bound to fulfill their tasks to the best of their abilities.
Prioritise tasks for better efficiency
Every founder needs to design a long-term sustainable vision for his organisation. If he spends every waking hour being a hero or a knight in shining armor, he's bound to lose focus on the bigger picture sooner or later. As Dwight Eisenhower once said, “What is important is seldom urgent, and what is urgent is seldom important.” When you start spending a large chunk of your time on strategising for the future, you'll finally have your priorities in order.
Learn to see the bigger picture
A founder's main job is to think about the long-term growth of his company. However, this will be impossible to do if the founder keeps looking into the day-to-day executions of his company's various departments. It is therefore important for founders to dedicate large amounts of time to working towards bigger goals. This is only possible when he trusts his team to take care of the daily happenings.
Cast aside tasks that aren't important
Attending speculative meetings with potential clients is fine if one does it only once in a while. A founder shouldn't, however, dedicate too much energy to unnecessary things, as that would be a waste of his time and a distraction to his staff. If a certain undertaking is neither important not urgent, then it's really not worth your time and effort.
Being a hero all the time will do more harm than good to your budding company. Pay heed to the above mentioned tips if you want your startup to be prosperous even without your looming presence.
