Today, Indians welcomed a new dawn to commemorate 70 years of independence. With patriotism gushing through their veins, they joined together to wave the tricolour flag—the very banner of freedom symbolising strength, peace and growth.
At Red Fort, the iconic citadel in the national capital,Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed young India, covering a range of topics, including GST and terrorism. He also announced the launch of a dedicated portal for gallantry awards.

On GST, he said,
In future, digital currency will take the place of paper notes and hence we are determined to carry on with less cash economy. Demonetisation helped banks lower interest rates. GST is boosting goods transport efficiency by 30 percent. We will see increase in transparency with GST implementation.
While the national capital was resplendent in nationalism and wore a look of celebration, students from different schools and colleges across the country commemorated the occasion with flag hoisting and cultural events.
