Despite having one of the largest higher education systems in the world, there is still a lot of potential for India to further develop the education system.
TiE Bangalore and Unitus Seed Fund recently organised Eduthon’17, a thought leadership platform created to drive conversations and solutions, that are transforming education and learning needs in the country.
Madan Padaki, Founder and CEO of 1Bridge says: “ The state of education in India is like a coffee machine, where it makes a lot of noise/buzz but with produces very little output. It is reflective of our state at the moment, where a lot of people want to make a difference, but it becomes difficult to scale and achieve the desired results. It is a long-term commitment and that nothing great can happen overnight is a given. But, nevertheless, let us try.”
Eduthon’17 aims to capture the latest developments in the education ecosystem over the last one year, since EdTech Day 2016, to nurture a unique community of education experts in innovation and investment.
The event began with an expert panel of entrepreneurs who shared their insights on how they scaled their edtech ventures. The panellists included Sultan Ahmed, Managing Director at LXL Ideas; Jagadish Babu, Chief Operating Officer at Ekstep; Sanjoe Tom Jose, CEO at Talview; and Varun Kumar, Co-founder at Imax Program.
This was followed by the StartEdu Pitches, where 10 startups pitched their businesses to investors and an audience of startups, mentors, ecosystem enablers, advisors, and investors.
The 10 featured finalists of StartEdu competition by Unitus Seed Fund have been mentored by TiE and USF Network over the past month and were selected from 220 applications from across the country.
