Hailing from Mysuru in Karnataka, 10-year-old Mustafa M Raja is fast gaining recognition as a tennis player of international repute.

Murtuza has won a record number of All India Tennis Association (AITA) titles in a span of two years and has also managed to attract the attention of the sports fraternity from across the world. In fact, Mustafa has been offered a scholarship by the Rick Macci Tennis Academy in Florida, USA.

A student of fifth standard at Excel Public School, Mustafa is the first tennis player from Karnataka to have been selected by the prestigious institution. He started playing tennis when he was just a four-year-old, and his father got a mini tennis court built in the house.

Mustafa’s father Murtuza K Raja said he wanted to see his son excelling at tennis, and winning grand slams like the Wimbledon.

Mustafa joined Nagaraj Tennis Centre when he was five, and soon began playing non-AITA tournaments at the club level. He was just eight years old when he won his first AITA title in the Under-10 Tournament. He has won nearly 21 AITA titles, and holds 10 titles in the AITA Under-10 section.

Mustafa has already won three singles and doubles titles in the AITA Under-12 section, and has become renowned after winning the AITA Under-12 doubles’ series in Guwahati in July, 2017. He won the singles and doubles titles in the AITA Championship Series U-12 Tournament held in Bengaluru.

Mustafa and his coach are working to hone his talent. He is among the top two players in the sub-junior section tennis ranking, and has also been ranked at a national level.
