Ready to ‘Get Lost’? This travel startup takes you to a destination unknown to you
The idea for Get Lost was born out of finding new ways for people to enjoy and view travel experiences through various lenses. Get Lost takes you to unknown, uncharted destinations and helps you explore your way through them.
Black Tomato, UK and US-based travel company started as the brainchild of three friends in their late twenties who left the corporate world to spend their days working on what they loved – travel. These three friends, Tom Marchant, James Merrett and Matt Smith, had spent many years travelling in previous jobs, living in Moscow, Johannesburg and everywhere in-between. Out of these experiences and a love for travel, the idea for Black Tomato was born.
One of the latest offerings of Black Tomato is the unique ‘Get Lost’ package. Get Lost takes you to unknown, uncharted destinations and helps you explore your way through them. By starting with the feeling of being genuinely lost, you will set out (under the distant watch of a dedicated support team) to find your inner steel, beliefs and passion to lead yourself to their journey's end.
The idea for Get Lost was born out of finding new ways for people to enjoy and view travel experiences through various lenses. It became clear people are seeking breaks that include mental and physical challenges that pull them out of their connected, wired reality and push their boundaries. In a world of 24/7 connectivity, people are increasingly looking to disconnect, escape, earn their experience and venture into the abyss of the unknown. Get Lost enables people to disconnect, explore and discover the world in a whole new way on a trip that is one of both physical and mental discovery. Get Lost is designed as being between five and seven nights.
The team says the feedback has been extremely positive, with responses from clients and wider audience finding a balance between excitement and curiosity. They’ve had an overwhelming response of fantastic enquiries from both past and brand new clients who want to experience this next dimension of travel and truly test themselves with this new kind of experience.
Once you complete the form, you’ll be matched with a Get Lost Travel Expert to determine how lost you want to be. The company promises that no two journeys are the same, and each Get Lost trip will be completely tailor-made, from length of travel to the experiences. The only input allowed will be selecting the environment the customer wants to Get Lost in: choosing from polar, desert, jungle, coastal, or mountain areas. While each of these environments lends itself to a range of different countries, the final destinations you’ll be traveling to and through will be unknown until you arrive. Alternatively, you can roll the dice and let Black Tomato take the reins and set you off into the unknown.
Tailored to the terrain, Black Tomato will provide users with advice on the training sessions required or will organise sessions upon arrival, setting one up for a successful journey ahead.
Get Lost has partnered with what3words which has divided the world into a grid of 3mx3m squares and assigned each one with a unique three-word address. This allows one to navigate offline, with unbelievable accuracy, even in some of the most remote places on earth. By using what3words you will be able to find your check-in points with accuracy down to a 3mx3m square.
