Steve Jobs would have turned 63 today. Over a lifetime filled with highs and lows that inspired countless tech entrepreneurs to come, Steve managed to carve out a legacy that assures he is considered one of the world’s greatest innovators even today, more than six years after his unfortunate demise.

However, it was never smooth sailing. A college dropout, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak set up Apple in 1976, and despite great success with the Apple II in 1977 and the Macintosh in 1984, in 1985, Steve was ousted from the company he co-founded. He set up a new venture (NeXT) whose success helped him rejoin Apple in 1997 as CEO. He was also instrumental in setting up the graphics division of George Lucas’s Lucasfilm in 1986; the company would eventually grow into Pixar, the studio behind the first fully computer-animated film Toy Story. Steve was diagnosed with a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumour in 2003 and died of respiratory arrest related to the tumour in 2011.
