Organic antimicrobial lingerie brand InnerSense raises Rs 2.5 Cr from Venture Catalysts
Venture Catalysts today announced that it has invested a sum of Rs 2.5 crore in an organic antimicrobial lingerie brand Inner Sense, in a pre-Series A round.
Established in 2014, Inner Sense is the flagship brand of Green Ideology, an organic cotton and bamboo fibre manufacturing company founded by Neerja Lakhani along with Abhishek Lodha.
The duo, having a passion for creating a brand that is synonymous with eco-friendly innovation and sensible fashion, created Inner Sense.
Abhishek, with an extensive experience in retail manufacturing, and Neerja, implementing her creative vision, have together worked towards making their vision of an everyday woman wearing Inner Sense every day a reality.
While the current products available in the market in mid-premium segment are mostly synthetic materials, Inner Sense introduced a line of lingerie that catered to the masses by being affordably priced while providing personal hygiene.
Investors of the Venture Catalysts network who participated in the network included Dharmesh Dalal, Vijay Lakhani and Matulya Shah.
Commenting on the investment received Inner Sense co-founder and NIFT graduate Neerja said, “We are immensely grateful towards Venture Catalysts for investing their trust in our business. This investment will work as catalyst in our growth plan and give us the required wings to realise our vision of a world in which every woman wears hygienic and perfectly-fitted lingerie that makes her feel loved.”
Commenting on the investment, Dharmesh Dalal, Partner, Ekkum Advisors LLP said, “Inner Sense offers a great opportunity in a huge market of affordably priced, body-sensitive, hygienic and organic innerwear for Indian women. Besides, strong and loyal customer base through online sales, currently selling through over 18 e-commerce platforms in India and four platforms outside India, reflects the acceptance of the product’s comfort fit, design styling. Limited competition and the expertise of the founders in textiles and innovative product design, in line with customer’s dynamic fashion requirements, further strengthen my belief in Inner Sense. “
Inner Sense claims that its products go through multi-layered examination processes for quality and have a comprehensive market strategy considering the various dynamics of the market. Its product offering includes a varied range of women's innerwear consisting of bras and panties, and nightwear.
Initially bootstrapped, the startup also recently received Rs 50 lakh in debt funding from YES bank with the help of CrAdLE, an incubator started by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII)
