Rajasthan looks set to steal the thunder from cloud providers with low-cost offering, Rajmegh

The Rajasthan government looks all set to give established cloud services providers a run for their money by announcing Rajmegh, its very own brand of IT infrastructure services, including cloud storage and data centre services, at a fraction of the costs they charge.

The Rajasthan Government is inviting large companies, including MNCs, government-owned entities, PSUs and even other state governments, to take advantage of the availability of these top-quality services at the most affordable rates currently available in India.

For instance, Rajmegh customers can avail of co-location services at Rs 60,000 per month for 40 U space and up to 4 kVA of power. 100GB of SAN storage can be had for as little as Rs 2,000/month. Under managed services, network management and storage management are on offer for Rs 5,000/month.

Services under Rajmegh have also been made available free of cost to all startups registered with the State Government’s iStart platform. At present, there are about 750 startups registered with iStart, of which over 100 are being incubated under the programme.

What Rajmegh offers

Rajmegh provides best-in-class data centre services from a tier-4-level data center, the most robust and least prone to failures, making them the first choice to host mission-critical servers and systems. They also contain fully redundant subsystems as well as top-class security and access control systems.

Among other services, Rajmegh provides:

2. Cloud services including server infrastructure and storage
3. Cloud-based software services, including O/S, application & database servers
4. Managed services such as O/S, network, database (Oracle & MySQL) and storage management, as well as backup services

Database servers on offer include MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle 12c, Exadata, and Postgre. Application servers available include IIS, TOMCAT, JBOS, WAS and WebLogic, while O/S include MS Windows Server as well as Linux Red Hat.
