OpenAI’s launch of GPT-6 Astra and its claim that the model has reached artificial general intelligence (AGI) have reignited concerns about how far AI capabilities should advance without stronger safeguards.
Recent reported incidents involving AI agents escaping safeguards, coupled with warnings that increasingly autonomous systems could enable cyberattacks, create biosecurity risks and become harder to monitor, have intensified calls for greater oversight from governments and AI safety experts.
The concerns come as the global AI race accelerates, with the US and China preparing for bilateral talks in mid-September on voluntary guardrails to prevent rogue, autonomous AI swarms from carrying out covert cyberattacks.
Closer home, India’s IPO pipeline is moving ahead, with NoPaperForms updating its IPO draft papers for a proposed offering featuring a fresh issue of Rs 375 crore and an offer for sale by an Info Edge subsidiary.
Meanwhile, FSN E-Commerce Ventures, the parent company of Nykaa, has acquired an additional 24.2% stake in beauty and personal care brand Earth Rhythm for up to Rs 9.4 crore. The company said the transaction has been completed, with the acquired shares credited to its demat account.
In other news, attention in the consumer hardware space is shifting to Apple’s September 9 event, with leaks and speculation pointing to the possible debut of a foldable iPhone.

Shashruti Vinayak Nakade has gone from discovering swimming as a child to becoming one of India’s leading para-triathletes. Born without a fibula and with deformities in her right hand, she underwent several surgeries before having her leg amputated at 10. Today, she trains across swimming, cycling, and running, with her sights set on improving her world ranking and qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.
Defying setbacks:
- Shashruti began swimming as a child and went on to win multiple medals at the national level. After competing as a swimmer for several years, she shifted her focus to para-triathlon in 2021.
- She narrowly missed qualifying for the Paris Paralympics after back pain disrupted her training. Instead of stepping away from sport, she took on the 35-km Palk Strait swim in 2025, completing it in 11 hours and 30 minutes.
- With a new prosthetic and strong performances in international competitions, Shashruti is now ranked World No. 9 and has qualified for the World Triathlon Para Championships in Spain. Her sights are firmly set on the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.
