Satlabs Space Systems is an Indian deep-tech space technology startup developing a satellite data relay network that enables real-time communication between satellites in orbit and users on Earth. Founded in 2023, the company is headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, with its R&D facility at IIT Madras Research Park in Chennai. Satlabs aims to eliminate one of the biggest challenges in satellite operations—communication latency caused by limited ground station visibility—by creating a global constellation of data relay satellites that function as "floating ground stations" in space. Its mission is to provide continuous, secure, and low-latency connectivity for satellites, enabling operators to command spacecraft, receive payload data, and respond to mission-critical events without waiting for ground station passes. At the core of Satlabs' innovation is a software-defined data relay network that uses inter-satellite links and intelligent routing software to provide 24×7 connectivity for satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The platform allows satellite operators to send commands, re-task missions, and retrieve payload data in near real time through a unified API, without requiring proprietary communication hardware. Designed for universal compatibility, the system simplifies satellite integration while improving mission responsiveness, operational efficiency, and data accessibility. These capabilities are particularly valuable for Earth observation, defense, disaster management, maritime monitoring, industrial IoT, and other applications where timely data transmission is critical. Satlabs follows a vertically integrated approach encompassing satellite communication payloads, software-defined networking, embedded systems, and mission operations. The company collaborates with space agencies, satellite manufacturers, commercial operators, and research institutions to build scalable communication infrastructure for the growing NewSpace ecosystem.
