So you are a decent guy. You don’t drink or smoke. Okay got that. Now tell me how many cigarettes you smoke in a day? No, I heard you the first time, I know you don’t smoke but I still insist, tell me how many cigarettes that you smoke in a day. Confused? Don’t be. It may come as an eye opener but we all smoke around 20 cigarettes in a day. That is a fact of the matter. The air that we breathe today is polluted and is as injurious to our lungs as smoking 20 cigarettes. Now you may say it is a bit of an exaggeration it is not. It is a proven fact.

If you want to be sure just visit your neighborhood chemist shop and ask him how many nebulizers and cough syrups he sells in a month and that will give you a good idea of the problem I am talking about. Unfortunately, no one is spared. Even the small children are nowadays complaining of asthma and are coughing phlegm. Indeed the situation is worse in big cities where the industrial and vehicular pollution has made our surroundings uninhabitable.

The air that we breathe has a direct bearing on our thinking and working capacity. The polluted air that we are breathing day in and day out is making us lethargic, draining our stamina, and making us weaker and prone to lung diseases.

That said, now what to do about it. Well, first thing is to acknowledge the problem and be aware of it. And then, of course, go about doing something about it. Denying the facts doesn’t help and if you want to be sure about the quality of air that you breathe at home or in your office, then there are devices that are available for monitoring the air quality with precision. I know of such a device called Laser Egg, a split egg-shaped device by Nirvana Being that monitors the air quality and is indeed your first step towards being aware of your air quality around you.

Laser Egg is a portable air quality monitor device and is suitable for both indoors and outdoors. Though it does not purify the air around it certainly alerts you if your air quality is poor and is taking a toll on your health. Inhaling polluted air is like a slow poison. You are dying a slow death and you don’t even know about it. Laser Egg tells you that you are in danger zone please do something about it. You could begin by buying a pollution mask or changing the surroundings if possible. But you got to act fast if you don’t then you are going to be responsible for your ill health. Let's not behave like a frog that dies in the boiling water because it cannot discern the gradual changes in temperature!
