February 14th is just around the corner, giving guys an excuse to shower girlfriends with gifts, or to appease your pissed-off wife by showing her how much she means to you on the most lovey-dovey day of the year.

The thing about Valentines’ Day is that, well, things can get pretty expensive when it comes to grand gestures of love. Sure, it could be worth it, but while you could just shell out $50 for a box of Chocolates and call it done, why not do something a little bit more meaningful for your girlfriend that she’ll probably appreciate more, and maybe save some money while you’re at it.

Scrapbooking Your Relationship

A little bit of hard work required here but so worth it. Most relationships these days can be tracked through millions of pictures taken together, selfies from that very special trip you took together previously. Print these out then do your best to cut and paste these pictures into a little scrapbook. Sure, you might not have an artistic bone in your body but give it a go, it’s the thought that counts as they say. If you're not the person who is creative enough to make one, you can always employ someone to create it. Just Google "scrapbook maker" and you might find that perfect person to create one for you!

Make Her A Mixtape

A mixtape is basically a playlist but on a cassette. Of course, these days nobody even owns tape players, so even if you so painstakingly recorded your girlfriend’s favorite songs onto a cassette for her, there’s a high chance she won’t even get to listen to it.

There is an interesting solution to this however, especially if you’re into a bit of DIY. This tutorial here tells you the easiest way to DIY your own USB cassette tape in 14 steps.

Love Coupons

This is a go-to last minute Valentine’s Day gift that is both low effort and surprisingly thoughtful at the same time. Love coupons are little “coupons” with actions and requests written on them, so long as they’re things she would like you to do, like going together to watch a romantic movie or shopping together without your complaints.

Be warned though, the thing about these coupons is that they can last her for weeks, so you’d be in it for the long haul.

Candlelit dinners are like, the epitome of romance. Gazing into each other’s eyes across a table, candles and soft music in the background, maybe a tablecloth if you have something like that. Who wouldn’t love the simple romanticism of it all.

Candles can be bought anywhere if you don’t have some at home already, and if you’re afraid of fire hazards, you can just get some flameless candles. Cook her a simple dinner and set the table, and let mood lighting and good food do the rest. If you’re not much of a chef, order something from online restaurants. There are many online options which is able to cook for you a special yet affordable meal won’t put a dent in your wallet to buy.

A Bouquet of Roses

Roses can get expensive, but one of the best things about is that there is always a sale or a discount somewhere for everything. Just search online and you could get some red roses delivered straight to her doorstep. Put the roses in a vase and they’ll brighten up her life for a few days more.

Treat Her to A Couples Spa Day

Surely you’ve heard your girlfriend or wife mention wanting to visit a spa before, maybe it’s too expensive for her to visit or she’s too busy. Why not treat both her and you to a day at the spa. While you’d think spa visits would be too expensive to indulge in around Valentines’ Day there are plenty of deals online that should cut the price down to something more affordable.

Treat your special someone to a day of pampering and gifts to show her just how much she means to you, but do it in a way that won’t leave you saving money for weeks to come after.
