Winning the prize money on India’s most popular quiz show - Kaun Banega Crorepati – has been a life changing experience for many. Recently, 29-year-old Noopur Singh, a physically challenged contestant, who was declared dead at birth, won Rs 12.5 lakh after answering 12 questions.
Joining the bandwagon is Babita Tade, who has become the second crorepati this season by winning Rs 1 crore. Sanoj Raj, a UPSC aspirant from Bihar, was the first to take home Rs 1 crore this season.
Babita left the show after she reached the Rs 7 crore question on the quiz show hosted by veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan. She also become the first female crorepati in the ongoing season of the quiz show.
Hailing from Amravati, Maharashtra, Babita works as a mid-day meal cook in a government school, and gets paid a mere Rs 1,500 per month. She says, she is proud of her job and loves cooking.
“Koi kaam chota bada nahi rehta (no job is small or big),” she said.
Babita said she was always interested in current affairs and used to follow them.
The big Rs 7 crore question was: “Which of these states has had the greatest number of its governors become presidents of India?’ The options were – Rajasthan, Bihar, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh”.
Speaking to Indian Express, Babita said,
“It was a lovely experience being on the show. I knew that if I reach the hot seat, I would win some amount but never thought that I would win a crore. The family is ecstatic.”
According to Hindustan Times, “The last question which she answered was, “Which poet in the court of Mughal ruler Bahadur Shah Zafar wrote the ‘Dastan-e-Gadhar a personal account of the 1857 revolt?” The options were Mir Taqi Mir, Mohammad Ibrahim Zauq, Zahir Dehlvi, and Abu Al-Kasim Firdausi”.
After a lot of tinkering, Babita chose to use her last lifeline, expert’s help. Fortunately, she got it right by answering Zaheer Dehlvi and won Rs 1 crore.
Now, with the prize money, Babita wants to build a Shivalay, and save enough for her kids’ future. Besides, she wants to buy a water filter and construct a kitchen shed, which will save them during the rains.
