Koo App
View Company ProfileKoo is a microblogging site for Indians, launched in March 2022. It is a Twitter twin, with a similar interface. It is a made-in-India app, which won the Aatma Nirbhar App Innovation Challenge, conducted by the Indian government in August 2020. The app includes similar features to Twitter, with options to follow anyone in India who interests you, share your opinions/updates, trending hashtags as well as a feed of posts from people you follow, with an additional feature of Indian languages.
The logo of yellow bird appears in Koo's logo, which has a historical significance to India, once popularly known as “Sone ki Chidiya” meaning a golden bird. Koo unveiled its new logo in May 2021, from a monochromatic yellow bird to a more vibrant-looking bird.
According to Zee News, the platform recently clocked 50 million downloads and has seen immense growth. It is the only Indian microblog competing with other global microblogging platforms such as Twitter, Gettr, Truth Social, Mastodon, and Parler. In comparison to this app, it stands second (after Twitter) in terms of user downloads.
It has so far raised over $70 million from its investors and claims to have over 60 million downloads. With a presence in over 100 countries, it caters to more than 20 global languages.
