The Humane Society International/ India (HSI/India), an affiliate of the world’s largest animal protection organisation - Humane Society International (HSI), launched the Humane Entrepreneurship program in September 2020. The non-profit works in the areas like education, advocacy, capacity building and hands-on programmes in its goal to create a sustainable and humane impact on the planet. The Humane Entrepreneurship program has been one of its latest initiatives to drive impact through innovation and capacity building. “We promote respect and caring for animals and endeavour to create a sustainable world,” shares Alokparna Sengupta, Managing Director, Humane Society International/ India (HSI/India). She adds, “There is an increasing demand for sustainable and humane products. The program is an initiative to do our bit in helping entrepreneurs build, upskill and scale themselves,” says Alokparna. The Humane Entrepreneurship program is a first-of-its-kind six-month incubator for Indian startups which are working with plant-based proteins, next-generation materials replacing animals and technologically advanced human-relevant, non-animal experimental models. The program aims to pave the way for more sustainable production and consumption by creating viable alternatives and transforming businesses into ‘humane enterprises’. In the video, watch founders of Brew51, Katharos Foods, Naka Foods and No Hide as they talk about their efforts to create viable alternatives to promote sustainable production and consumption patterns and how the program has helped them refine their business models, refine pitches, address strategic challenges in their growth journey through exclusive mentoring sessions, workshops and investor connect.
