Here’s our take on morning rituals – they are the obvious little secrets that can transform your lifestyle, programme your conscious and sub-conscious to take on challenges beyond what you have ever experienced, and literally jazz up your personal and professional life. They also have the power to overcome any self-sabotage, and help de-clutter your negative thoughts.

What are morning ‘rituals’?

Rituals can be defined as being beyond routines, but a sequence of actions followed daily that are designed to transform all of you - bit-by-bit. It can be anything if you begin to do something intentionally with a sense of gratitude and to enhance your mental and physical wellbeing.

These actions can be better explained as rituals than a routine because they look to the development of self-consciousness, which is more than just an exercise. Rituals are those which empower you to experience an extraordinary day with compassion, energy and liveliness.

Other than making me active, these rituals have also bought me a lot of abundance in other areas of life.

How do you add rituals to your daily life?

Quality of sleep matters

Sleep deprivation is a major source of depression and forgetfulness. It deteriorates your conscious level, makes you feel drowsy, and lethargic, and thus pulls down your productivity. Customising morning rituals are not easy if you don’t wake up early.

Waking up early can slow down your racing mind

To wake up early, practice meditation for at least 20 minutes before going to bed. Mind calming practices can effectively slow down your racing mind and help with a peaceful sleep.

To practice mindfulness meditation before sleeping, switch off the lights. You can listen to meditation songs - soothing relaxing music with nature sounds for a blissful deep relaxation. This can help declutter stress, fight fatigue and insomnia, and let you find inner peace.

"Nothing of me and everything of you"

A prayer of gratitude is a good way to begin the day

This should be a prayer offered to the Divine as you awake up in the morning with a sense of gratitude, imagining yourself surrounded by lush green trees and chirping birds.

I feel we should all learn to cultivate positivity within us as soon as we wake up. Wake up, give yourself some time to balance your conscious and sub-conscious mind, and then pray. This brings in positivity, can be done for at least 5 to 10 minutes. This has been my morning ritual for almost a year now, and has given me huge benefits.

Drink Water

Drink three glasses of warm water on an empty stomach as soon as you are done with your first ritual. The water flushes out all the toxins and strengthens your immunity. It helps in cleansing the colon, and makes your intestinal absorption strong.

Basic Rituals

Wash your face to feel more energetic.

Feel the rays of the sun

Sit or stand near the window (an area that is very calm and peaceful) and feel the sun which is a direct exposure to Vitamin D for your skin. This should be done for 5 to 10 mins only.
