Dubai to host startups and investors at Expand North Star event
The global gathering, from October 15 to 18, will feature 1,800 companies from 100 countries, 250 expert speakers, and 1,000 investors managing over $1 trillion.
The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy is hosting a global gathering of startups and investors—Expand North Star—from October 15 to 18.
The event, at Dubai Harbour, will feature over 1,800 companies from 100 countries, 250 expert speakers, and 1,000 investors managing over $1 trillion, according to a statement on Zawya.
Organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre and hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, the event aims to connect the world's most sought-after startups with innovators, investors, entrepreneurs, and founders of global success stories, leveraging growth opportunities in Dubai and catalysing the future of the digital economy.
It promises to offer opportunities for ambitious digital startups to attract funding and scale their operations.
“Hosting Expand North Star will further advance Dubai's transformation into one of the world’s most flexible, diversified, and technology-driven digital hubs," said Saeed Al Gergawi, Vice President of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy.
"This event will enable us to harness the full potential of the digital economy by connecting stakeholders from the government sector, investors, and accelerators with the world's leading industry experts, innovators, and tech startups,” he added.
Dubai's D33 (Dubai Economic Agenda) initiative, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to double the emirate's economy in the next decade and position it among the top three global cities.
The digital economy is a key pillar of growth, with an annual contribution of $27.22 billion from digital transformation projects, said the statement. Expand North Star aims to support this by turning 30 startups into unicorns by 2033.
“This event builds on the sell-out success of last year’s North Star, which led to the launch of around 150 startups in the UAE as a result of deals signed during the exhibition.
"While we anticipate most of the attention to focus on startups in areas such as artificial intelligence, climate technology, mobility, smart cities, and manufacturing, there is room for everyone. We are always looking for ambitious innovators with big ideas,” said Gergawi.
