Wednesday April 08, 2009 , 1 min Read

India is represented strong in the list of participants from the 2009 Global Social Benefit Incubator, which is a program led by SocialEdge and Santa Clara University that “assists social benefit entrepreneurs in developing business plans that enable their organizations to reach increasing numbers of beneficiaries.” The following individuals, and their associated organizations, will be part of the 2009 GSBI class:

  • Annapurna Mamidipudi from Dastkar Andhra, an organization that works with weavers to promote rural livelihoods
  • Jabeen Jambughodawala from SAHAJ, which promotes women’s empowerment through art and craft based activities
  • Sanju Kumar from SAMRUDHI Microfinance Society, focusing on financial access to rural and urban households
  • Rajendra Joshi from SAATH, which has an Urban Resource Centre to allow migrant urban residents access to services from various sectors, from government to private
  • Yugandhar Madavkar from Grass Roots Action for Social Participation (GRASP), an environmental organization that helps provide energy-efficient stoves for rural households
  • Manoj Sinha from Husk Power Systems, an organization that TC-I covered before – they focus on converting rice husks to electricity

These participants, joined with others from around the world, make for an exciting 2009 class of the Global Social Benefit Incubator.
