Purkait not only aims high to create a brand image in the global market by supplying quality products to its valued customers, but also strives to maintain a quality standard, provide timely delivery and offer competitive price to its clientele.
The company was initially registered as a small-scale industry for manufacturing and export of varied engineering products. But it didn’t take Purkait long to expand the company’s operation. Toady the company’s product range comprises forged components, flanges, fittings and machine components mainly of stainless steel.
“Our dedication to manufacturing quality products and making timely delivery has been lauded by our national as well as international customers. Over the years, we have realised the importance of retaining growth, and have started working towards obtaining better infrastructure, higher product range and market segment,” said Purkait.
The organisation, which supports around 200 families, is growing constantly while simultaneously exploring the plethora of opportunities available in the global market. When asked why he chose to become an entrepreneur, Purkait said that he always wished to take up something that made maximum use of his calibre. However, the transition from a well-paid executive to a down-to-earth, self-employed person wasn’t less than a challenge.
One of the things that will strike you the most about this daring entrepreneur is his self- confidence. While every other entrepreneur admits that they learn from their mistakes, Purkait boasts of having committed none. “I don’t think I have ever made a mistake so far,” he asserted.
Financial constraints have deterred many people from pursuing their entrepreneurial venture, but Purkait stood firm and intrepid. He started the company with the capital that he and his partnered had saved for the purpose. “We are growing slowly but surely, and although we have no branches right now and are managing the entire operation with a staff of only around 10 people, our annual turnover touches over 3.5 crore,” he said with a speck of pride in his voice. The fact that the company has been functioning without incurring a financial loss is what Purkait considers as their biggest achievement.
The company was also awarded a silver medal by the Engineering Export Promotion Council recently, and was recognised as the ‘star performer in export’ for the year. Purkait’s vision for the year 2010 is to build an enterprise of trust and reliability with high degree of values as core strength. And to those of thousands of budding entrepreneurs who wish to take up a similar journey Purkait says, “If you have a dream and the determination give it shape, nothing can stop you from becoming a successful entrepreneur.
