IBM wins five-year Indian media house deal

IBM has won a five-year contract from Indian integrated media company UTV Software Communications to help transform its business processes to provide customers with high quality content and services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, IBM will help UTV streamline the company's finance and accounts, rights management, procurement, projects, material management and other key functions with an enterprise-wide SAP solution. The contract also includes cloud-enabled email system via LotusLive iNotes, a web-based email service.
The company said UTV also plans to expand the agreement with a selection of core media business solutions including a broadcast management system, content management system and intellectual property rights management for various lines of businesses including broadcasting and TV content production.
Steve Canepa, general manager at IBM global media and entertainment industry, said: "Media and entertainment companies around the globe have to be leaner and smarter than ever to overcome the challenges they face as they evolve in a multi-channel marketplace. UTV understands the benefits that process transformation can deliver to a company's bottom line."
IBM has also won a three-year contract from the Karad Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd. (KUCB) in Maharashtra state, India to deploy a Scalable Modular Server Room (SMSR) pre-designed and pre-fabricated data center.
