Vithal Kamat wins PATWA ‘International Achiever Award’

The International Council of Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) recently honoured Mr. Vithal Kamat, Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Kamat Hotels (India) Ltd with the ‘International Achiever Award’ at the annual ITB Convention in Berlin Federal Republic of Germany, for his valuable contribution in the Tourism and Hospitality industry. The event was attended by thousands of exhibitors and members from 180 countries.
The PATWA is the world’s biggest ‘Travel Writers’ organization, represented by members from 70 countries across the world. The aim of the PATWA International Award is to honour the entrepreneurs, who have made an invaluable contribution in Aviation, Hospitality and Tourism industry.
In 2007, the Orchid Hotel was awarded for the Best Chain Hotel for Eco Tourism in the world, and in 2008 Mr. Vithal Kamat was honoured with the lifetime contribution award ‘Hall of Fame Lifetime Contribution in Hospitality Industry’.
With this award ‘The Orchid Hotel’ has become the world’s highest award winning hotel in the hospitality industry.
On receiving this prestigious award, Mr. Kamat expressed his gratitude and delight by saying that “It is a wonderful feeling that the concept of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ have gained international recognition in the World Tourism industry.”
