Meet Karishma Grover, India’s first woman vintner and a third generation Grover. Karishma joined the Rs 30 Cr Grover Vineyards in 2008 after graduating in viticulture and oenology from the University of California. Grover Wines has expanded its product portfolio under Karsihma and has made wine available at affordable price points. With wine consumption on the rise and local Indian brands contributing over 75% of all wine sales in India the Grovers today have a distribution network in over 20 states in India with their partners Brindco. The business has also generated investor interest, with the world’s leading champagne house, Veuve Clicquot picking up a 20% stake in the venture.
Also catch Rahul Misra, who took the agrarian route with his venture GoGreen Farms in 2008. Growing and marketing flowers and farm products Go Green Farms today exports 90% of its produce to international markets and has grossed revenues of Rs 25 lakhs. Looking at a turnover of Rs 60 lakh this year Rahul also has plans to go retail with his brand.
And meet Pallavi Goswami who launched GreenSomethings.com, a green gifting venture in 2008. Pallavi pots and packages a variety of culinary, ornamental and even medicinal herbs to help city folk set-up their own little patch of greens. The venture grossed a turnover of Rs 10 lakhs this year and Pallavi now also has an offline retail model for her venture.
