Mr. Rolland Lardinois visits E-CELL ABV-IIITM Gwalior

Saturday September 25, 2010 , 2 min Read

Roland Lardinois is a sociologist, Research Fellow (HDR) at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), member of the Centre d’Etudes de l’Inde et de l’Asie du Sud (UMR 8564) at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris. Since November 2009 he has joined the Centre de Sciences Humaines, New Delhi.

He is currently working on an Indo-French project, in collaboration with Vigneswara Ilavarasam (IIT-Delhi), which deals with the history and sociology of Indian engineers. The aim of this project is to study the making of engineers as professional groups since the colonial period until the present time, with a particular emphasis on engineering education, social mobility, gender issues.

He visited the E-CELL ABV-IIITM Gwalior on the 22nd of September . Thereafter we had a boardroom meeting where we had a light discussion about Ecell and some social issues regarding engineers. The meeting got interesting when some of our members started heated discussion on the topic of why so many IT professionals in India though many of them are from other disciplines?

It got even better when two budding entrepreneurs of our institute showcased their idea and Dr.Pradip Swarnakar talked about the different aspects and the acceptability of the idea.

It was a great experience interacting with a person from France, studying us Engineers in India.
