The India Development Marketplace is a competitive grant program, jointly organized by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) South Asia Office, a member of the World Bank Group, and the Development Marketplace (DM) Program, housed in the World Bank Institute.
This competition aims to identify and support social enterprises (both for-profit and not-for-profit models) that are seeking to scale or replicate cutting-edge solutions to the most pressing social and economic problems, in a financially sustainable manner, focused on the target States of Bihar, Orissa and Rajasthan.
Through this Program, 13 promising social enterprises will be awarded a grant of USD 50,000 each, to be deployed over a 24-month period. The objective of the Grant is to enable the selected social enterprises to refine and build their models, so as to demonstrate long-term viability at the end of the 24-month period.
The call for proposals is open between 10th December 2010 and 23rd January 2011. Shortlisted projects will be presented at a DM event in Jaipur, in early April 2011.
More details on the eligibility criteria and the Competition award process are available here: India Development Marketplace
Proposals must be submitted online at www.dm-india.com before 11.30pm on 23rd January 2011. It’s a short window for proposals – we encourage organizations to submit proposals at the earliest, to be a part of this competitive grant fund for scaling the social enterprise project.
