With over 2 million cars adding every year to the Indian roads and with over 100 models getting launched – each vying for undivided attention, the Indian car industry is waiting to explode. Higher disposable income coupled with attractive loan schemes has ensured that the car manufacturers come up with more exciting cars with competitive pricing. So what does it all mean for the Indian consumers?
More cars leads to more choices and more choices would mean more confusion. And at these times, when you are looking for your dream car, you need a friendly and genuine advice which guides you to make a perfect choice.
Welcome to Indian Drives - India’s biggest online platform that brings together car enthusiasts from across the nation. It’s fueled by people, who eat, drink and breathe cars – by people who wish to share their passion for cars with like-minded folks. Thanks to the veritable knowledge and expertise, our writers are able to share with you the latest information, trends and analysis about all the cars that are currently available in India.
Indian Drives is the brainchild of Bimal Bhatt, who surprisingly is from a Finance background – he is the CFO, Rikhav Infotech, a comprehensive web-based solutions company. “I always had this passion about cars and being at Rikhav Infotech, with the unmatched online expertise it has, I was wondering if we could develop an online property, which talked anything and everything about cars. Ritesh Sarvaiya, CMD, Rikhav Infotech, being a serial entrepreneur himself, immediately realized the potential of the project and extended all the freedom and support to take this forward” reminisced Bimal.
"With an expertise of successfully creating and maintaining over 200 blogs (out of which 30 cater to the automotive segment) for our partner company in US - Enlist Media, we collectively decided that it was the right time to explore the Indian markets", shares Bimal Bhatt. "With more and more people scurrying online for expert advice, today's online generation is hungry for information. Though it's very experimental in its behaviour and doesn't think twice before trying new things, when it comes to their online habits, they are very loyal to something they find very informative, genuine and useful - and that is exactly what Indian Drives aims to deliver." adds Bimal.
Indian Drives, today, within just 3 months of its inception, is already getting 3000 visitors daily - that's quite an achievement considering the fact that it practically has zero marketing budget. "We don't need to spend a lot yet since all our traffic is currently diverted from Google and other search engines - we have a 100% captive audience." says Bimal. "The secret lies in the rich and unique content that is updated almost every hour coupled with our unparalleled Search Engine Optimization skills that ensures that we are amongst the top results when people are looking for information on cars. We don't ask people to look for information about cars on our site - we are just there when they are looking for information - it's a very non-intrusive way of marketing - not to mention, very cost-effective too".
Today, the Indian Drives team comprises 5 highly passionate writers, a small but immensely talented SEO and design team. It currently has no marketing team yet but it soon plans to have one in place. "Many of the VC's we've pitched to, have shown interest in the project and God willing, if everything works out well, we'll have the fuel (read money) to drive our project to the next level." adds Bimal.
In the future, Indian Drives plans to earn its revenue from advertisements and strategic tie-ups. Bimal reinforces this thought, "Today, everybody wants a filtered target audience to save on their CPC (cost per contact). With our ever-increasing audience, Indian Drives will soon become a hot-spot for anybody and everybody who has something to do with Cars in India: Car Manufacturers, New & Used Car Dealers, Service Centres, Photo Gallery, etc. It'll be a perfect platform to connect with many potential Indian consumers and car enthusiasts across the country."
"Furthermore", he adds, "it's probably the only platform in this segment, which is 100% free. Car dealers can upload their cars to buy or sell - as many as they want with no time limit; service centres and retailers can register themselves for free; individuals can be a part of our social network and get regular updates on the latest happenings of the car industry. I believe it's a win-win situation for everybody and that's the USP of the whole project."
We, at Your Story, wish Bimal Bhatt and Indian Drives all the luck and wish he crosses many a successful milestones in his dream project.
