Genesis 2011, the social entrepreneurship B-plan competition from IIT Madras

The Siva Group and C-TIDES, the entrepreneurship cell of IIT Madras, Chennai are putting together Genesis 2011, a social entrepreneurship business plan competition. Genesis is designed to be an opportunity for people who have a number of ideas with an interest in creating social impact.The competition is open to all students and working professionals (including NGOs) who have ideas that are innovative, feasible and beneficial to society at large. The only restriction is that 50% of the registered members of every team registering for the competition must be students.
This year, Genesis is offering up to Rs.4 lakhs as prize money. In addition, winners will be given the opportunity to pitch their ideas at the Genesis Summit. All finalists will also be provided access to extensive mentoring facilities for a duration of two months.
The competition has been split into four phases – submission of executive summary, submission of business plan, mentorship and final presentation. The schedule is as follows:
