Former Wipro CIO Laxman K. Badiga Joins Anthelio Healthcare Solutions as Chief Operating Officer

Badiga has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer.Most recently, Badiga served as the Chief Information Officer at Wipro Technologies (NYSE- WIT) were he managed a wide array of critical operations, facilities creation and management, supply chain management, procurement, Information Systems and IT infrastructure, travel and mobility and government relations. While at Wipro for nearly 30 years, Badiga was responsible for initiating a multitude of services including software services in US & Europe, large account management, the creation and management of the first vertical services organization, as well as software product development. Badiga also participated in the significant growth of the organization from a startup division at its earliest days of formation to a 120,000 people strong global leader in the IT & Business Process Outsourcing industry with over $5B+ annual revenue.

As CIO, Badiga launched significant process initiatives, such as launching systems to enable growth and scalability, creating virtual infrastructure, driving virtual global collaboration, automating software delivery for consistency and scalability and implementing security and business intelligence. Badiga was also responsible for creating 12 million square feet of Green facilities in the SEZ and handled procurement with a budget of $2 billion annually. Prior to taking over as CIO, Badiga had the functional role of handling global resourcing and productivity office, including training, where he created a well oiled machine for improving the technical and soft skills of engineers.
During his tenure at Wipro, Badiga initiated the first successful verticalization of the company by launching retail and utilities businesses groups, which today are two of the company’s largest verticals. As far back as 1988 when Wipro Systems moved to services, he championed the application portfolio and generated the first sales in the U.S.
Badiga joined Wipro in 1981 in its fledgling Computer Division in the R&D department. Prior to his time at Wipro, he worked at Tata Motors and served as an Executive Council Member of Nasscom. Badiga also sits on an IT panel of multiple state governments in India and is on the IT panel for the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).
Badiga is the winner of CIO Magazine’s CIO 100 Hall of Fame, InformationWeek’s Global 50 CIO, the Global Visionary award, as well as winner of awards for Green IT and facilities. He is a post graduate of IIT Kanpur (M.TECH,1978) in Computers and completed his undergraduate studies in Electronics and Communications.
