We at YourStory.in recently caught up with Rachit and Gaurav, founders of EXFAQ Systems, to know more about the business idea behind EXFAQ. Edited excerpts from the conversation:Tell us about EXFAQ Systems.
EXFAQ stands for “Expert Answers to Frequently Asked Questions”. We offer solutions in the 4 domains of our expertise - AV, surveillance, telecom and aviation. With an aim to electronically secure our environment, we have come with cutting edge Remote Monitoring Technology through Mobile Phones/Internet for anywhere, anytime monitoring of multiple locations.
Whats your USP?
Any time access to Infrastructure is key in this century. With mobile devices being the key to portability, we believe access & interface of any electronic device is very important. This ideology is EXFAQ’s vision. Our solutions in every domain have mobile access, from live view of any surveillance camera on mobiles across all platforms (Symbian, iOS, Android, Windows & Blackberry OS) to real time flight tacking with data of critical parameters like speed, height & engine status live on the cell phones. Even our telecom solutions have mobile interface helping us in achieving single reach number and extension based dialling for organisations through mobile handsets.
Tell us about your background.
Rachit has an experience of over 4 years in the domains of AV, Surveillance & Telecom. Before starting EXFAQ, He worked with the Adani Group, where he headed these domains as a part of Corporate IT. He did his engineering in Computer Science from Maharashtra Institute of Technology, University of Pune. He is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor(CISA). Gaurav graduated from the University of Mumbai with a Bachelors Degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. He has worked with Reliance Communications as a Senior Network Engineer for the WIMAX roll out. Thereafter, he was trained as a Kingfisher Airlines Cadet Pilot and has obtained his FAA & Indian Commercial Pilot License.
Tell us about your clients.
We work with real estate majors for live project monitoring and status updates of construction activity, security & for safe guarding expensive materials like steel & cement at open stores. We work with retail outlets to prevent pilferage and theft, monitoring store staff on customer service parameters. We also work with various players in the industry for monitoring of day to day work, quality checks, live shop floor view to overseas clients.Where do you see EXFAQ Systems five years from now?
We aspire to be amongst the most preferred solution providers for distance learning, remote monitoring surveillance, unified communication and real-time flight tracking.
What are the challenges you faced while developing your solutions? How did you overcome those challenges?
The biggest challenge was the lack of infrastructure readiness for bandwidth in India. This posed a challenge to transmit real time video feeds from places with shared internet to be remotely accessed from second generation GPRS phones. To overcome this challenge our hardware uses lose-less delta jpeg compression standard which is one step ahead of the known mpeg4. Overcoming this helped us make breakthroughs in distance learning solutions on minimum bandwidth, live camera feeds on cell phones and transmission of audio over IP in unified communications.
How big is the team behind EXFAQ Systems?
Our current company strength is 16. And, we are looking at hiring.
Let us know about your expansion plans.
From current operations in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore we are immediately looking to start operations in Gujarat and Delhi and gradually move across all major cities in India. The way ahead for us is to make Mobile Surveillance & Mobile Interfaces affordable enough for it to be a standard feature in all solutions and an everyday apps for retail consumers too.
