InoXapps's Finger Print Security Scanner Featured In Top 6 On Android Market

Finger Print Security Scanner inoxapps

I guess most of us heard the news last week about Android Market touching 10 billion app downloads, with a growth rate of one billion app downloads per month - Wow! - the numbers are just mind-boggling. I think its a great indicator for serious app developers to understand and consider the potential market for the right app, i.e. if they are able to develop it. Delhi based Startup inoXapps are betting big on the Android Market and their apps are already creating a buzz in the android market place. Their Finger Print Security Scanner app which was released on 1st November has already crossed a million downloads and is featured in the Top 6 Free Apps in the Entertainment category on the Android Market. YourStory caught-up with Nikunj Jain, Co-founder and CEO on inoXapps to know more about their app -Nikunj, What prompted you to create this app?

A friend of mine always complained about the lack of a good lock tools in his android to keep intruders away. He used to say - the pattern lock loses its relevance the moment he unlocks the phone in presence of anybody. So we thought of creating a more secure lockscreen which was also much cooler than any of the present lock screen alternatives.

What were the challenges you faced in creating the app?

We know that the lock screen is the fundamental part of the android OS. So, we had to make an app that functioned seamlessly under all circumstances, even if crashed/force closed. So essentially creating a service that never stopped, giving it a hierarchy similar to system services and also keeping it very light. It was fun doing this research on the android system. Due to lack of alternatives, we were forced to use push notification advertisements, which drew lot of user anger and a bit of poor ratings for us. But despite that we believe an average rating of 4 on 5 with push notification ads is better than market standards.

After the success of Finger Print Security Scanner app, what next?

Owing to our love for kernel level programming, we are now helping few Indian OEMs to make android phones that have advertisements integrated in their kernel. This will help them offset the upfront cost of the handset for the consumers, essentially making android devices much more affordable and further fueling the commercial activities on androids. Soon, we'll also be releasing a series of fresh physics based android games.

YourStory team wishes Nikunj and inoXapps best wishes for their future.

We also got one of our readers to review the Finger Print Security Scanner app and share their feedback, and here's what they had to say - "The app works great, its as good as the pattern lock. Just like how we can disable 'Visible Pattern', the same can be done here by 'Disable Sounds'. I've tried other Fingerprint scanner apps before, however they used to crash after restarting the phone. This app doesn't, it stays put. Security wise, The probabilities of creating a different pattern lock is high compared to the 10 probable ways of unlocking the phone with Fingerprint Scanner. Looking forward to more features in the same app. For the time being, the app stays on my phone till the next update."
