Trend Micro Announces the Next Generation Mobile Security Solution for the Android Platform
Today Trend Micro, Inc. announced the latest product to join Trend Micro’s Mobile arsenal. Trend Micro Mobile Security Personal Edition is a solution designed to provide protection for smartphones and tablets on the Android platform.
The product includes a free app scanner, lost device protection and will also be able to block threats while browsing the Web, calling or texting. This mobile security solution was first unveiled during CES 2011 in Las Vegas.

Android devices have become the latest target of cybercriminals and Trend Micro’s research team has identified new threats targeting Android devices and according to them it is growing at 800% since February 2011. This version of Trend Micro’s mobile security solution has enhanced security features.

- A New Lost Device Protection
- Improved Surf, Call and Text Security
According to Amit Nath, Trend Micro’s Country Manager India and SAARC, Trend Micro believes, “Mobile users need to be protected against malicious applications. To help protect as many people as possible and stifle criminal attempts to steal personal and financial information we are offering our anti-malware scanner for free.”
Remotely finding a lost device is also made possible through a secure web-based portal on a Google Map. Even if the device profile is changed to silent an alarm goes off. Users can also use the portal to either block the phone in case of theft or loss or even delete all content stored on the device. Removing the SIM card automatically locks the phone. The portal’s UI is quite user-friendly, which further adds value to the service.
We tend to store a lot of information on our mobile phones these days. Besides sensitive data like bank account details or credit card information, mobile phones also provide access to email accounts, social networking profiles, etc, which are potentially dangerous.
