HumThum, a platform that connects entire India through pin-coded websites, gained approval from Limca about a year ago but entered into the books officially in the closing days of February for launching 24,000 websites in one go!
"HumThum Apps of EdServ Softsytem Ltd has become the first mobile apps to be listed in Limca Book of Records through its innovative contribution of creating separate website for each pincode in India." says Sujai Pillai from EdServ.
The main aim of Humthum was to reach grass root level Entrepreneurs in India and provide the benefits of e/m-commerce to them. The record came enroute to achieve this aim.
With more than 1600 languages and 1,53,000 areas, diversity is synonymous with India. "We planned for area wise division and providing the support through area partners but the problem is that there are numerous cases of repeating area names." says Sujai. Also, many places have long names and can be spelled differently. This is why pincodes were used as a solution. By combining various API's from websites like Google , Yahoo and authentic classified data from government agencies, Ederv was able for create a website for each pincode and district in India.
