iXiGO.com on April 2nd announced that it now powers the online travel search for the official website of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA), Malé, Maldives. Having had success by providing metasearch to other GMR Airports- New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, the deal for Male was almost a natural progression.“There are no other players currently doing this in India” says Aloke. The fact that Airports would choose a metasearch engine like iXiGO rather than a booking site is pretty logical. “A meta-search site is able to provide a comprehensive, neutral and transparent option. Having relationships with all major online travel sites in India and abroad, we’ve got a very good value proposition for any customer” adds Aloke.

Travelers visiting the Maldives Airport website can now search from over 100+ travel websites, get schedules and fares from online travel agents and airline websites, and also compare hotel rates for 250,000+ hotels globally. Once they decide on an option, they are taken to a booking site of their choice where they can transact. “By incorporating iXiGO’s travel search on our website, travelers to/from Malé can experience an easy-to-use, unbiased and world-class product for checking flight schedules, real-time fares/availability and hotel rates/availability from across the world.” mentioned Andrew Harrison, CEO of GMR Malé International Airport during the announcement.

The main revenue streams for iXiGO are online ads and tie-ups with travel sites, airlines, hotels and other booking sites but this is a very good value adding service in their repertoire. “It is also a feel good factor since we’re providing very useful unbiased information to the travellers” mentions Aloke about collaborating with airports. “It is a win-win situation”.

Being one of the biggest online and mobile travel search engine for South Asia, Aloke attributes their robust growth to their fanatic attention to detail. “I think being extremely user centric and focused has helped us become what we are today.” concludes Aloke.
