GoCarz: Free In-Cab Wi-Fi Services, First Time in India
It’s one of those days when things couldn’t have gotten worse. You’re travelling, running late, you have a truck load of work sitting on your shoulder (getting heavier by the minute), and what’s more, you can’t get any of it done because your memory failed you into forgetting that data card at home. You wish Satan could stop shining his spotlight on you. Well, almost as though a genie granted your wish, you realize you’re in a ‘GoCarz’ cab with a free in-cab Wi-Fi service! We live in a tech savvy world where we are hugely dependent on the Internet for almost everything. In today's day and age, Internet is no more a luxury but a necessity. Realizing the needs and demands of digital consumers, GoCarz felt there is a huge market for digitally equipped taxis in India. After research on what consumers want and on the basis of their personal experiences, GoCarz was conceptualized in 2011 and the service was rolled out on the 18th of April this year.
“We are the first ones in India to provide wireless Internet to our customers while they are on the go. We are only competing with ourselves and trying to get better each day,” says Director, Abhinav Gogia. Other services that GoCarz provides are a bottle of water and free newspaper to their guests once they enter the car.
GoCarz cabs are Wi-Fi enabled hence giving commuters quick and easy access to the Internet. With a soaring demand of smartphones, feature rich phones, ultrabooks/notebooks and tablets in our country, the digitally savvy users can now make the most of their gadgets and browse through Facebook, Tweet, place an order online or even access official mails in their GoCarz cab. The best part about this value added service is that it is free. “We are using mobile technology to provide all our customers with fast and easy Wi-Fi accessibility. Every Gocarz cab is equipped with a separate WEP key, which helps them log on to the net. All cabs are monitored from the head-office and in case of a glitch, our IT team rectifies the errors,” says Abhinav, explaining how it works.
GoCarz’s target audience, as of now, comprises internet savvy consumers who are always on the go in the Delhi/NCR region. “GoCarz will ensure that mobile Internet becomes mainstream; we want everyone to be able to sit in our cars and log on to the WWW,” says Mehak Gogia, Marketing Head at GoCarz. With due course of time, they plan to expand to other markets as well.
GoCarz is an advertising based company. To drive recall for a brand, it is essential to be present where the targeted consumers are. Keeping this in mind, they reach out to marketers who want to make an impact for their brands by selling every inch of space available on their cabs, targeted to upwardly mobile commuters. Adds Mehak, “The brands that advertise with us will get added mileage as the GoCarz fleet of cars will speak to their target audience and be seen on the roads across Delhi and NCR.”
In just a few weeks after launch, GoCarz has received an encouraging response having served hundreds of Delhi-ites. Their team consists of 6 core members and lots of supportive friends and family.
“We have come up with a service of its kind; when our customers call us up to congratulate us on our unabated and comfortable services, it is an enormous source of joy for us. Unparalleled service to its customers is what GoCarz strives for. A small team and budget constraints to work with can be challenging sometimes, but we’ll carve our path out,” concludes Mehak, on a positive note.
