Seedfund Invests in Jeeves, a Repair and Maintenance Service Providing Portal

Thursday June 21, 2012 , 2 min Read

Jeeves was established in 2007 with the aim of plugging the gap between the ever increasing demands for quality professional services in the consumer durables market in view of the new brands coming into the country and the kind of service that has historically been available. The firm has recently received a first round of funding from Seedfund. Talking about the investment, Bharati Jacob, partner and co-founder of early stage venture firm Seedfund, says, "Jeeves solves a very simple problem that hundreds and thousands of households face today. Many HHs own multiple brands and products in the consumer durables and electronic space. For any service, repair of any of these items – we have to call different numbers and we aren’t sure of the quality and reliability of the service/repair. For all households, buying a durable or an electronic item is a major investment as it costs a fair bit in comparison to our total earning."

Jeeves helps enhance the value of the durbales/electronic items and does it so, with highest level of quality and reliability. Now, the consumers don’t have to call multiple numbers for different brands and rely on unknown quality of service for repairs – they need to only call one number and Jeeves service rep will take care of all the problems.

The founders, N Balasubramanya, Alokeshwar Sen and SL Padmanabhanare all former employees of consumer products company BPL they have a vast cumulative experience of over half a century! Jeeves has a network of over 200 technicians across the country. "We focused on creating the network, tying up with brands and gaining expertise before launching our direct-to-customer service," said Sen.

Talking about the road ahead and expectations from Jeeves post the investment, Bharati says, "We expect Jeeves to be present in all parts of india – be it small towns or large cities; be it Bhopal or Bangalore or itwah. Jeeves currently services in-warranty durables/electronics on behalf of large brands and large retailers. We expect Jeeves will utilise the funding to grow the consumer service business."
