@bubbles, an Effort to Disrupt Email Launches Beta Today [Free Usage Code for Enterprises]
Email has been there on the Internet for over fifteen years but yet it leaves a lot to ask for. Over 90% of all mails are spam, and that writing them does have some serious limitations on expression and emotion. There are other problems like limited networking capability and invisibility of email addresses also. @bubbles is a mint new start-up that aims to bring true letter-writing experience on the web. They offer a paper-like template with rich functionalities like drawing, coloring, collage and an ability to put hand-written signature on your mails. "We provide awesome amount of power to express to our users," says Arvind Nigam, CEO and Founder of @bubbles.
@bubbles was founded more so with a motivation to ‘solve one’s own itch’. Take an example of routine hiring explains Arvind. You’d normally give an appointment letter and not an appointment email on the letter-head of company. To create that letter the HR manager would open a new file on an a software like MS Word, add content, format it, print it, put her signature, and scan it back online and save it as PDF on the desktop. Then, in an anti-climax, open a dumb blank email and attach the letter to send it to the recipient. A process that is multi-step, cumbersome and time-consuming as compared to what @bubbles seems to offer. “You type your letter straight on the official letter-head of your company, sign using a mouse or fingers on iPad in your own hand-writing, paste images if required, and send simply by mentioning the recipient’s email on the letter itself. All from the browser itself” confirms Arvind.
Take off:
Arvind has previously had experience in business development, sales and contracts and was also an author on technology and startups for several publications. He gave it all up and picked up programming and web development full-time before jumping to found @bubbles along with two more team-mates.
Officially launching today, @bubbles was covered on Life hacker serendipitously and is seeing strong uptake in the Northern American region, where iPads and touch surfaces are more common. “Our plan is to learn and scale in Americas first, and then emanate outside with those learning” explains Arvind. He identifies that their company’s biggest strength is their tightly knit team and that their idea has a potential to spin off into different directions depending on usage, behavior and needs.
Some of the challenges that the company faces is on understanding the full potential of virtual paper market and what other exciting opportunities could be made spun off using their technology. “Big data is a big opportunity. Since we're into authentic online documents, we solve a big-data problem by bringing in structure and inter-connections between formal documents by sewing them all into a dense graph. That’s value in order of billions, we’re talking about.” he adds.
