Eliminate the Burden of Checking PNR Status; Get SMS/Email Alerts via MyPNR.in
IRCTC, one of the most popular and used sites in India, has always been the butt of the joke owing to the rather sorry state of design and user experience, not to mention the failed transactions. Visiting the site is a bit of a pain in itself and once booked, going to the site again and again to check PNR status if your ticket is waitlisted is again a drag.
MyPNR's claim to fame is that it can do this for you. One needs to create a account and login post which one can track a PNR number. Started by Vishal Gupta, a software engineer based out of Bangalore as a pet project, MyPNR provides the following services:
- You can view your Indian Railway PNR status.
- You can get instant status by sending a simple SMS to MyPNR.
- You can create alert for your PNR number to receive status change alerts.
One can know the current PNR status by sending an SMS for which rates are applicable according to your tariff plan. SMS @PNRINFO "PNR NUMBER" "YOUR MOBILE NUMBER" to 9266592665 or their short number 55444.
"The website tracks the User's PNR number and vacant seats available on Indian Railways. Any user can create alerts(PNR or Seat-Availability) there and then the user will get alerts via EMAIL/SMS whenever the status changes," explains Vishal.
Vishal has been adding new features and recently added a feature that allows a user to track the number of seats available for a particular reservation. Even if the site isn't well designed itself, it is high on utility.
