Delhi Based Startup “How Architect Works” Captures Everything Related to Architecture in India
How Architect Works is focused primarily on the architectural happenings in India. The team at HAW connects with eminent as well as budding architects, start-ups, creative individuals and brands related to the field of architecture and design, to contribute best of their works and share it with the creative community.
“I was always curious to learn about how things work apart from the work itself. Whether it was my first architectural training as an intern or my first job as a designer, looking at the things which goes around and beneath the work we do, is something which always fascinated me to explore something of my own interest. World of books always captured my interest so intensely that I always wanted to open a huge book store with all kinds of books and leisure activities. Finally, after investing 5 years in the IT industry working as a User Experience designer, in August 2011 I decided to venture into the world of online publications and chose my favourite topic ‘Architecture’ as a starting point. We launched How Architect Works in 2012, in order to cater to the architecture and design community and it is a web based service, says Abhishek Upadhyay, Founder-Editor, HAW.
Abhishek is backed by a bunch of people; most of them from creative backgrounds like architecture and design from IIT Kanpur, National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad (NID), and School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi (SPA).
Abhishek observed an acute lack of visibility of the amazing work that is happening in India in the field of architecture and design. “Many of the fresh concepts and remarkable work done by architects goes un-noticed due to huge dependency on the print media. The idea behind HAW is to provide a platform, where the new talent is also showcased and is able to share the work with the larger community,” he adds. Co-relating this to the huge prospect and power of online media, and the easy accessibility of digital content over eBook readers, tablets and smart phones makes the proposition much more viable.
“I feel fortunate to study architecture and design, so that I could appreciate the beauty and utility of its end results. Since we are at very initial stage of HAW, procurement of the digital content is a major task for our team. On a funny note, sometimes architects are too busy with their projects…that they forget to promote it,” adds Abhishek.
On a concluding note Abhishek adds a quote that inspires him the most: “A designer is a person who sees a solution, where others see a problem”.
