Snapdeal partners with Mahindra for selling Two-Wheelers (Duro) on its website

Friday January 18, 2013 , 3 min Read

In a development today, Snapdeal.com has announced its partnership with Mahindra for selling two-wheelers to its customers on the site. This will be for the first time that a vehicle is being sold online in India and will be delivered at the customer’s doorstep and this certainly isn't something one would have seen coming.

After purchasing the vehicle on Snapdeal.com, the customers will be contacted by a Mahindra executive who will inform them of the required documents and will collect the same from them as per the customer’s convenience. Customers can choose to pay for the vehicle either at one go or avail 3/6 month EMI options (0% interest). Once the customer submits all documents, the vehicle will be delivered at the preferred address within one week’s time.

The USP of this offer is a Flat discount of Rs 6000 on the vehicle. Before purchasing the vehicle, one would also be able to book a free test drive at their home/any preferred location. Cities covered include Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata. The vehicle comes with a warranty of 4 years and a free insurance cover for 1 year but the only flip side is that the two wheeler includes only Mahindra Duro. Mahindra has other 2 wheelers but aren't available on Snapdeal as of now. All Mahindra vehicles can be checked out here.

Speaking about this tie up, Tony Navin, VP-Business Development at Snapdeal.com said,“At Snapdeal.com, our endeavour is to be able to participate in our customers’ lives in every way possible. With this partnership, we are the first ones to venture into e-selling of vehicles and have it delivered to our customers’ doorstep”.

Dharmendra Mishra, VP Sales and Customer Care at Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. said, “Though online retailing is still in its nascent stages in India, the industry has grown tremendously over the last couple of years. MTWL is very conscious of the changing customer preferences and this is yet another step from us to get closer to the net savvy customer at his comfort zone. This partnership will open a new avenue for us. With the buying trends changing drastically over time, we are sure we can deliver more happiness to our customers through this novel tie-up with Snapdeal.com, one of its kind in the country”

Having heard from the folks at these companies, what we think is that this is a great way to push a vehicle that isn't doing spectacularly well. The discount seems to be there to push Duro sales but going forward, it's be really great to see the other models online as well. Surely, great signs for things to come.
