Now Send Gifts Through Email, using InstaGifts

Wednesday April 03, 2013 , 2 min Read

Gift cards and prepaid cards provider, QwikCilver recently announced the launch of its new initiative called GiftBig InstaGifts. This service allows customers to send gift vouchers and gift cards through emails instantly. InstaGifts eliminates the need to ship physical gift cards to a customer for use. Instead the gift voucher is received on email or on the smartphone and can be used to redeem the gift from the shop. GiftBig InstaGifts enables consumers to simply take the printout of the GiftBig InstaGifts email or on the smartphone to the brand store and purchase their choice of products from the brand store.

QwikCilver has partnered with brands like Titan, Van Heusen, Puma, Fastrack, Peter England, Hidesign, Yepme, Helios, Babyoye, YLG and Hoopos to launch the service. InstaGifts allows customers looking for last minute gifting options to instantly select a gift and send it to the person they intend. As the mode of delivery is an email, users can also include personal messages for the recipient.

On the benefits of this service, T P Pratap, co-founder QwikCilver says this will eliminate the need to courier physical gift cards to people for use. The sender can send the card quickly and the recipient can redeem it as soon as he gets it. “Today the delivery of these cards depends on the logistics of the courier company, but now the time to reach customers will be significantly cut down,” says Pratap. QwikCilver is targeting 25% of its revenues to come from InstaGifts in the next 12 months, as well as significant savings in its shipment and courier costs.

The gift cards & vouchers category in India currently stands at a size of Rs 2,000 crore and is expected to reach Rs 8,000 crore by 2017-18. Gift cards are also gaining acceptance as an SKU in retail outlets and currently contribute upto 12% to the topline for businesses that sell them. In US markets, the gift cards category is among the Top 5 selling product categories. Festive season holds a significant importance for the gift cards category as well as for QwilCilver, who earn about 30-40% of their revenues during the said period.
