SignEasy launches BB 10 App; the how and the why

SignEasy launches BB 10 App; the how and the why

Tuesday May 21, 2013 , 2 min Read

We had recently written about what the ideal 3rd OS for developers would be, most developers said that Windows would be the third platform of choice. So when a leading Indian app company decides to build for BlackBerry 10 instead, we decided to probe a little further. Sunil Patro of SignEasy shared some interesting insights of how and why he decided to go with BlackBerry first as opposed to the popular choice.

A top class app

Although we haven't done a user review of the app yet, there are enough achievements under

Signeasy

SignEasy's belt for one to figure that this is a top app. It is the first cross platform e-signature app available across Android, iOS and now, BlackBerry. SignEasy has also partnered with some heavy weights in the field, including Box and Evernote for service integration. We have covered the app twice before and having seen how the app have evolved over the span of a year, it truly is a really useful tool for entrepreneurs and professionals on the move.SignEasy's BB 10 apps is fairly similar to how it does in the other platforms as well. This is a port of the their Android app on the BB 10 platform, which is one of the platform's USPs. The only differences are because of the interaction changes in the BB 10 platform. Why BB 10?

We asked Sunil on why he chose BB 10 over other platforms - "For us it was more of taking a calculated risk. I still think Windows is a great platform and it's something that we're definitely looking at. But for the short term vision, we had to either choose between building a native app from scratch and burn six months in the process, or port an existing app and be available on another platform." However, porting did come with it's issues, which Sunil shared that the BB 10 dev team helped them sort out.

When asked if he'd build a native app for the BB 10 platform, he said, "Definitely, but only as we pick up user traction. If we have enough users demanding a better user experience, then we will definitely invest in a native app."
