[YS TV] India Country Head of Wego post the $17 million funding round

Wego is a Travel Search Engine (see the entire travel spectrum) that is based out of Singapore and was founded by Ross Veitch and Craig Hewett in 2005. The company is now present in more than 50 countries and launched in India in may 2012. Jackson Fernandez heads the India operation (interview with Jackson during the Wego launch) from Bangalore and they have a 17 member team here.Wego recently raised a Series C of $17 million and we got in touch with Jackson to learn more.

A significant portion of the funding will be coming to India. Most of the funds will be used for product development.The model is not very people intensive but we'll be hiring and plan to setup office in Mumbai and Delhi.

The HolidayIQ merger was actually a way for us to understand the market as we were not in India yet. Post the merger, we realized it is best to keep the entities separate if we want to be the best at what we do within our domain and be known for it.
